| Born in 1956 with a restive visual spirit, Macpherson is a nomad who must follow the beacon of his muse to be satisfied. Whether it is waking up to morning fog drifting across the pond outside his home in Northern New Mexico, or walking down a French village street dappled by raking sunlight, he simply must share that experience with others, recording colors that express his reaction to form as a function of light. | ||
|
Macpherson's success as a plein-air painter is bolstered by a BFA from Northern Arizona University and an early career as an illustrator. While that process is now inherent to his being, Macpherson has a remarkable capacity for sharing the process with others, not only on canvas, but also in words. His book, Fill Your Oil Paintings With Light and Color is in its sixth printing and was recently translated into Chinese. Contributing author of many books including a recent release of Enchanted Isle: A History of Plein Air Painting in Santa Catalina Island. |

Along with the countless Best of Shows his paintings have influenced many feature articles in Art of the West, Art Talk and graced the covers of Southwest Art, American Artist, International Artist and The Artist's Magazine. His workshops are highly sought after by students from around the country. And in 2000, he penned a column on the creative process, The Artist’s Voice, for Southwest Art magazine. Kevin’s technique is demonstrated on video, “Painting the Landscape”. |

Macpherson is the former president and Signature Member of Plein Air Painters of America, Master Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, member of the California Art Club, Member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group, The American Impressionist Society and California Gold Artists. |
